I would take a look at the respective websites, and puruse thru the lake list to see if the waters you fish have "high definition" surveys done on them. I know that the particular lake I enjoy just had a HD survey done last year by LakeMaster, the Navionics list shows an older map set created by Fishing Hot Spots and other data. But, if I decide to use the LakeMaster chip, I need to look at something other than Humminbird and/or Garmin units. The Lowrance iFinder seems like a natural choice, but an awful lot of "bad karma" posted about it, mostly in regards to power cords.

I agree, the best way to choose a map card is to look at the lakes you fish and see which map card has them in high definition. The map cards mark cribs and contours and hazards, I don't recall seeing brush on them (but the lakes I fish don't really have brush so I can't say for sure).

What lake ya looking for? We have added over 300 HD lakes this year, and a lot of them in MN.

What questions can I answer for ya about Navionics? I work for them.

I can't speak about navionics, never used one. I do have 2 lakemaster-mn chips, one I keep in a Lowrance Global map in the boat and the other in a Lowrance expeditionC. Most of the lakes I fish in West Central MN are on them ecxept for the smaller lakes. I like Lakemaster because of the finer details that seem to be on them, like roads that aren't on the maps, but you can find in Gazzeters(like logging roads where I bear hunt). I have looked at the Navionics and will definitely consider it when buying a new one for the boat, I thought the list of lakes in my area was impressive and included some of the smaller "puddle" lakes.

LakeMaster/Garmin data cards are available. Check LakeMaster's website for your options.
