Hello All,
I'm just looking for some information on Frog Rapids Camp. I am going there the first week in July and just wanted any information on the camp or fishing that time of year. Any information on Sturgeon river or Botsford lake or Abram chutes would be helpful.
Thank you for your time much appreciated

I have been up in that area may times. I have never stayed there but it is right on the highway at the bridge into Sioux Lookout. At that time of year you don't want to spend much time in the river or Botsford. You can try around Abrams chute but you will want to head into Minnitaki. I'm sure they can mark maps for you of Minnitaki. Also- I would post this on the Canada message board.

Hello , been going there for thirty years but always there in the first part of June going up there on the 12th this year. When it is hot you might try up the Sturgeon river too. There is some deep water in there around the area with the cliffs. As far as the camp you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The ice is free and they have a great walk in cooler to keep your fish on ice or they have a walk in freezer in the basement of the lodge if you would like to freeze them. The fish cleaning house is well kept and usually busy. They have a nice lodge too for lounging or for a little tv, with a little store for last minute stuff or some ice cream or milk or whatever. The people running it now are the 3rd generation they are brother ans sister Larry and Adelle The trip we go on now actually started in 1967 and we have been going there ever since. I started going with my dad in 1977 ( I was 12) and now I am 45 and still going with my dad and my son who is 19 now and been going since he was 8. We know the waters very well and always just catch the heck out of the fish. Frog Rapids has some of the best fishing in the area (right below the bridge). you also have the English river falls and don't forget about Rice river it is only a little ways away too. They have nice heavy hand built cedar strip boats with mostly Yamaha engines (last year anyway).Well hopefully this helps ( I could go on and on) let me know if you need some more info. We will be in cabin 12 ;11 and cabin 3. We will arrive on the 13th in the afternoon and we will stop by for sure and take you up on some loudmouth and some fishstories... I am so ready to be there and smell the air and catch some Eyes Ehhh !!!Jim Carter

My first time to FRC was 1979 (I am 49), my Dad's first time was 1967 (my Dad is 75), my son's first time was 1995(my son is 19). We have stayed in Cabin 12 since 1979 as well.
We will be up there again this year beginning Saturday June 27th through Friday July 3rd. Another Canada Day at Frog Rapids.
If anyone is still looking where to fish, come by our cabin and I'd be glad to let you know some good spots. The fishing has really improved over the years. We are also going to try to target more smallmouth this year. My brother in law always slams them (he goes same week we do).
Anyone fish for lake trout in Minnitaki ? I'd like to hit a grand slam one day (walleye, northern, smallmouth, lake trout).
The fishing started out slow, but we did very well. Water was still pretty cool but it warmed up and it was alot better.Leeches night crawlers and minnows. Below the Abram chutes was great and frog rapids was good too. Water is high but not as high as high as last year. Hope this helps have a good time!!!Jim
