I was just wondering how everyone gets those cool avatars on their posts. I noticed some American and Canadian flags, and think it's great, but have been unable to find a url to link one to....Looking especially for the Canadian flag......(:

I like them because it helps me put "a name with a face." I don't always remember the names but the little pictures help me place people.

I tried to add one but it didn't seem to work. Maybe it was too big?

How can I get mine to come in clearer? Getting smaller should make it better not worse.

You need to go to your user profile and enter the link information under the avatar.

I found some pretty cool pointers and cursers at http://cometcursor.cometsystems.com/
I have a fishing lure for a curser now - they have flags etc

For those of you that are having problems, you have to type in the url of the picture where you found it, you cannot save it to your harddrive, because people cannot access it when your computer is not online.....(:

Find picture you want.
Right mouse click on it, slect "copy image location"
Go to user menu, Edit your profile
select Avatar Image
hit "Ctrl + V" together (paste)
Then update
You should be set.
The picture has to be from a site that is always online to work all the time.

You need to locate the image, right click and copy the url from the properties info. Paste into the avatar url window in edit profile.

Just curious
Do you see your avartar pic in your profile?
gilly8000
03-21-2002, 07:28 AM
No. Do you have to have a web site with just one picture on it?
perchjerker
03-21-2002, 07:36 AM
No, I just went to site with a pic on it, right clicked on the pic. It brought up a menu, I selected properties, on that popup, i looked for the url for the pic, then i copied it, went to my profile and pasted it there, then the image popped up in my profile. I an using Internet Explorer. There are other ways to do it, the key is getting the url of the pic itself.

Find a website with a small picture or animation on it. Right click on it and you will need to choose properties. Then copy the URL from that and paste it in the Avatar box under edit profile in the user menu.
If you try to take one from tripod or some other sites, the url will not always work. Try a site that is not an "online community".
