What is the main difference between the "PREMIUM" and "PLATINUM" chips

Premium was informed in 2004 coming out in 2005.
Platinum & Platinum plus is a newer chip.

I don't understand what you just posted. There is a 2009 platinum and Premium Available. Someone please give me an easy answer.

the platinum has panoramic lake map pictures (looks like an actual lake photo from a camera) on them where the premimum are standard chart like maps on them
there may be other differences but thats the main one as far as i know

Only certain units can run a Platinum chip. The platinum cards are 2 gb and have MUCH smaller areas of coverage compared to the premium cards. The Navionics scanned HD lakes on the Platinum cards have a 3d viewing mode, satelite photo overlay and photos of points of interest, but double check if they work on your unit or not.
