View Full Version : Offshore boards with mono????
Wanting to use .015 dia. mono for trolling with offshore inline boards. Question is...how much more line will I need to put out vrs. the .012 10# XT? Will I notice any performance issues? Wanting to use at least 15# mono so I can use same reels for both walleye and salmon.
Thanks,
Jose`

If you pick up a current edition of Precision Trolling you may find a very accurate answer. My ballpark estimate would be that they would run around 20% shallower with the heavier line, with the same amount of line out....

Any other opinions???

Yes, take Dutchmans advice and pick up a copy of precision trolling. It will save you hours of guessing.

Jose,
Precision Trolling give you a line conversion chart that tells you exactly how any .015 dia. line would compare with .0134 line (10# test XT). The diference is closer to 10 %, but you're really short changing yourself by trying to do without the book.
You'll also sacrifice some action. Likely about the same amount, ie. 10%. Good luck,

See, Jose... I told you ETT would respond.
He is not so good on "pronouns", but knows his trolling!...heheheh

Another possibility is to use 14# Sensation.
I believe the line diameter is about .0134 -- same as 10# XT. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
lol T-Mac...Thanks T-Mac and ETT.

Jose,
I talked with a Berkeley rep today about lines. He told me has done multiple tests on 10# XT and found that it consistently breaks at 15#.
