"From the chart page, bring up the cursor" is what my HDS-7 manual states. Easier said than done for me when I'm playing with the unit at home with a Navionics chip enabled. Anyone able to tell me how to activate the cursor in this scenario? Thanks in advance.

Just move the arrow directional button any direction.

Thanks for the reply acar555. However, your suggestion didn't work for me. Perhaps I have a setting set incorrectly.

Thanks for the suggestion Perchjerker but all pressing "Enter" did was change camera from pan to rotate.

However, as soon as I switch "Chart data" from Navionics to Lowrance, I immediately have the cursor in the middle of the chart screen. Perhaps these HDS units don't yet allow bringing up the cursor when Navionics is selected under "Chart data".

Usingthe directional pad brings up the cursor with all of the HDS model at my local Cabela's with a Navionics card.

Thanks Acar555. That's very interesting. Would you happen to know whether those HDS units had the latest software update (2.0.30.50)? I'm just looking for a reason why my HDS-7, with the latest software update, doesn't respond like those HDS units in Cabela's.

I think you should remove your Nav card and then try bringing up the cursor, to see if it's the Nav card or the HDS unit that's giving you the problems.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to do a soft reset on the HDS, and even try reloading the software version, just to see if you can clear up whatever is causing it to not bring up the cursor.

My problem with the cursor not being available on my HDS-7 when I had a Navionics chip enabled has been resolved compliments of Sheldon Hatch on The Next Bite web site. I had one of my chart settings set incorrectly. I had View set to 3D and there was no way the 2D cursor could be used as it would need to calculate the 3rd dimension (it only works in a two dimension axis). Thank goodness for the internet and fishing message boards!

They are running the lastest update. Navionics wouldn't work without it.
