Yesterday, my e-mail contained a message from Navico directing me to a web-based survey they are conducting. The aim of the survey was to collect data on how they could better market their electronics products. It was also an opportunity to give them some honest feedback on their products and business practices. If you receive the survey e-mail, I encourage you to fill it out. I found several places where I could advise them that product reliability and customer service matter FAR MORE in my electronics buying decisions than ads placed in televised fishing tournaments. At the end, there was an open text box where I could express my current dismay at how Lowrance has disappointed me with their recent products.
I am still using their products and I'm living with reliability and operational quirks that these products should not have. Now I have two 1-year-old GPS/sonar combo units with the latest software release being a BETA product from >6 months ago. Lowrance seems entirely consumed with fixing the software for their HDS products, so I wonder if the LCX and LMS software will ever get any more attention, even the minor effort to certify the 2.4.2 release as "production", release it as version 2.5 and eliminate the nuisance "BETA software warning" screen on their 2.4.2 BETA release.
