With all of the discussion of Humminbird’s Side Imaging Technology I thought that I would post up a snap shot I took from my trolling motor on Friday. My little cousin was in town and all he wanted to do is go fishing, and he doesn’t have near the patience to troll cranks for walleyes, so I thought I would try to find a school of crappies that we could bobber fish. I pulled some cranks in the channel until I found a good sized school of fish. I scrolled the cursor over to the fish, hit mark, and then took the boat over till we were about 15’ ahead of them. We put out some crappie rigs and bobbers and got a good mess of crappies for supper.

Here’s the school of fish. You can see the edges of the channel, with the crappies sitting on the edge of the drop. There’s some bigger fish sitting around the school and I’m guessing they were walleyes, because we had one that was about 3lbs up to the boat and I tried to lift him in instead of netting him which turned out well for the walleye...

Great picture. Another good exaple of how the side imaging can benefit us. I'm glad the little guy had fun.

Justin

You may want to try adjusting your sensitivity up a little. You will get a clearer image of the bottom.

Good Image

It must just be the picture because my sensitivity is maxed out and my contrast is set at 14...
