I purchased this unit last year, and updated software to cure a GPS loses lock issue. The sonar worked great, and I counted myself lucky, as there were complaints at this site about losing bottom. This spring, it has decided to do that. At any time, the screen can go yellow (hard bottom) and register 1 to 2 feet. Sometimes it corrects after a minute or two, or not at all. I contacted Lowrance and was advised to download the 2.4.2 beta update, which I did and had no improvement. I also tried a soft and hard reset to no avail. Anyone actually have this problem fixed, or are you still frustrated?
If you can try another transducer I would give it a try. I use a 522i with the 4.2.2 release and it has been working very well.

After making the post above, I sent another e-mail to Lowrance. They believe the unit is defective and I should send it back for a replacement for a measly $300.00(CDN), as it is just out of warranty. I think I might want to try the transducer first.

The last message I sent to Lowrance Canada I also cc'd to Linda Colt. She also suggested I try a transducer first, so I did. I had similar problems after the replacement. It seemed to work ok till I got up on plane, then it would go to 1.2ft, with the yellow screen. I discovered that if I turned the shallow water feature off, it worked fine.:)
