LCX-17M Issue

I bought this unit used and installed it without any problems. On the first trip out after about 20 minutes of running fine the screen suddenly went erratic and the depth read .07 and sonar was useless. Gps was fine and responded fine. The erratic sonar continued as I tried to isolate the interferrance. (i assume this is my problem) It continued as everything was turned off and no motor running. Huh...still acting crazy. My next thought is the gps puck might be too close to the unit. It is about 3 feet away on the top of the gunwale and the unit is in an electronics locker (tiller rig). The unit will operate normally for awhile then act up again. I'm guessing it is something electrical that is causing this. Anyone have suggestions or has this happened to anyone else? Everything has its own fuse as well as ground and wires are as far apart as I can get them.

Check the Transducer with another unit they do go bad and that unit is ~ 6 years old ?

Make sure you update with the latest software update for the unit.

I was looking into a t ducer, but thats $60. I could return it if thats not the problem.

Do you have a Boating Frend to try your unit on another boat ?

I think i'm going to replace tducer and see if that works. if not I'll take it back. Its the easiest, but most expensive. I like easy tho.
