I have a pair of these units and am very pleased with them. Good power and resolution a great value. My only problem (and it is not an issue very often) has been when I idle over very thick weedbeds that reach all the way to the surface of the water. The unit will appear to loose track of the bottom showing 32' depth for example even if it is only 8', causing the unit to switch to the 50' view range. And this problem can be easily circumvented by switching off the auto range selection and manually set to what depth the unit should display. The numeric depth indicator may still say 32' but the display will clearly show that it is only 8' with a lot of weeds!
Great overall unit and easy to use.

I 2nd that on the shallow water thing. It is easy to use, with good detail. I got the model with the speedo, and it failed the first month. I was able to get another speedo/transducder combo. After a year the speedo does not register again. The unit does however perform well. I also have the Garmin12 GPS handheld and like it.

Don't know if Walmart has the 240's or not but I recently picked up a 160 on closeout for $150.
