Guys,
I know there is a ton of info out there on the right way to go for trolling bags, but no one really talks about any of accessories needed to run these bags. 2-22" beefy bags is what I am looking at from Amish Outfitters, however do I need to also purchase a harness/float with these? Do you guys run rope directly from the cleat to the bags, or do you run the rope thru some rubber tubing to eliminate chaffing on the hull? I appreciate any insight in advance. Tight Lines.

nothing fancy needed as far as floats etc. I just use 3/8" three strand nylon dock line from front of bag to a cleat that is "amidships". rear line is 1//2" poly (floats) but you could use nylon there as well. Just adjust lines so rear of bag is not past the stern of boat.

Thats the same set up I use!! Just make sure you get big enough bags to slow your boat down!! I had to go to a little bigger bags to get me down for pullinh harnesses!

you dont need the floating harness but after using both, it sure makes life easier!!!

Thanks guys for the advise. Hey Perchjerker, what makes the float/harness that much easier?

everything doesnt sink if the bag doesnt open right away, or if the wind is such that you get blown back over the bag before you have a chance to get it open. I have had them wrap up around the lower unit when I wasnt careful

I know guys will say they never had that problem and all I can say is good for them hope you never do! LOL
