Which one for my X-15mt? I fish mostly North Dakota and South Dakota. I was told both will work but the Mapcreate-5 is "better". Looking for someone who knows more than I do (not much). I haven't even powered up the unit yet.
Thanks for your help

MapCreate 5 is software compatible with the X-15MT/CT, X-16 and Global Map 3000. MapCreate 6 is for the LMS-240, Global Map 2400, and the I-Finder. They are not interchangeable.

I also have an X-15, what will Mapcreate-5 do for me? Do they cover the Western States, such as Montana? Thanks.

It covers the world, but you have to follow directions and make maps on your MMC card that only holds 8mb. You may have to download different lakes to your card when you go out of state. I bought a 32 mb card and it handles much more, SD, ND, WY and MT.

Map Create 5, has 2 cd's, one for East, one for West. Use the east for your setup on your computer. Read the owners manual, it will walk you through the setup. Once you have it down loaded on your computer, follow the instructions, it is user freindly, and very easy to do. The East CD, will be your CD to use for everything. It has all of the United states on it. All components should have come with your unit. Connect the provided cable to the proper port on your computer, once you have it up and running, zoom in to the area you want, then zoom out to about 200 mi screen, click on button on top (left), that shows a picture of a pencil. Place your cursor on top area of what you want to create. Hold you mouse button down, and move the mouse. You will see a Green line appear. Start this at the upper left corner of the area you want, and holding the mouse button down, move it to the right as far as you want the boarder to be, let off the button, then click the button and hold it down again, but this time move it downward to the bottom of your boundry, and again release button. Go back to the top, place cursor arrow on build a map, click it. This will detail the area you have choosen. Next step, after your map has been built, is to transfer it to MMC( multi-media card). This is the little card provided with your unit. Insert this into the proper conection, the right way. Then go to top of sreen again, place cursor arrow on transfer data, click it, and watch what appears in lower left hand corner box on your computer. It will say something like, Ft. Peck,1.2 mb. this will be your headsup, that it worked. The 1.2 mb is only an example, it may take up more space, depending how big of area you drew.

Hope this helps,
Gary Gray

Great info I've been hesitating to buy because I wasn't sure what I would get out of it.
Thanks, again
