View Full Version : Lowrance lcs 111 update revisited

Greetings,

I know much of the update information has been hashed and rehashed here over the years, but I did a search and wanted to get some of the latest info from some of you.

I am currently running lcx 25c and lcx 111c units in my rig. I am happy with their shallow water performance(under 6') since I backdated the units to the 1.6 software two years ago. Now, I am still getting just an innordinate amount of clutter and bottom 'fuzz' on both of these units, no matter my sens settings, ping speed, asp etc. I have tried to remedy this so many times, though still frustrated. I turn my sensitivity down to get rid of it to the point of losing bottom lock. Now, I realize there might have been improvements made to the software since I switched back to the 1.6.

I see that the newest available update is/was the 2.1 for my units. I also see a 2.4.2 update for slightly newer units. I was just wondering if the 2.1 fixed the issues with shallow water reading that the 1.7-1.9 had or if I'd be better off sticking to the 1.6. I would really like to remedy my sonar issues and have access to some of the features of the 2.1 but would hate to sacrafice the great shallow water tracking I now have.

I hope that quality support/updates have not ceased with these units now that they are 2-3 years old.

I tried 2.1 and it also has issues. Ended up switching back to 1.6 while still out on the water.

I switched my 25 back after I updated to 2.1.0. After I updated to 2.1.0 the thing would lock up the instant I hit weeds. I don't see any other update for 25 than 2.1 issued 9/20/2007.

Thanks guys, I'll stick with what I have. Again, been real happy with the units, other than having alot of the 'bottom junk' issues. My main issue comes when looking for sand grass or very low young weeds on a flat. The bottom fuzz on the 111 makes me switch to the 25 at times, depending on the water I'm on. I think I will try a hard reset and try again. Off to save gps data.....

The 2.1 update is one of the worst ones out there.

Wouldn't it be nice if they could just fix the problems???????????

I have the same problem w/ losing bottom and locking up. I have switched to the 2.1 and didn't save the 1.6. Is there a place where i can get it?? I also run the X 111-25 units. Thanks for any help.

Lowrance sent me 1.2, for my 25. Is 1.6 for the 111?

I am pretty sure there was a 1.6 for the 25. I would ask for 1.6. They originally sent me 1.4, even though I requested 1.6. I did not like 1.4 as far as how it display readings and the newest versions have other improved features. I recontacted Lowrance and requested 1.6. Ask them for 1.6 and give it a try.

Yes the 1.6 is for the 25, I just got an email from Lowrance confirming that. Does it have any known issues and what functions does it have that the 1.2 did not if? If anyone knows. Thanks

I have a 110 and 111 on my boat ,is the 1.6 the best for both units?

The sonar section of 1.6 for the 110 is probably the same as the 1.6 for the 111. If you are having problems with your current version try 1.6.

The last 2 times took 46 & 52 minutes to get through to them. If it's an easy task for you I would appreciate the 1.6 version from you. Thanks ...
