Where are you guys mounting you transducers? Should I go with a exterior or shoot through? I've got a shoot through now and loose bottom at high speeds. I think it was installed to far forward. Also, if I go with a shoot through, what do I use to attach it? Thanks fritz.

I've got a 07 620, and my transducer is epoxied in from the factory, as it was a FLW Championship boat. The only time I lose contact with bottom is a very high speeds over very deep water, 55mph+ 70 FOW+. The transducer is located behind the bilge and livewell pumps, pretty much centered in the hull.
Hope it helps.

My shoot thru on my 621 never looses bottom even at speeds of over 50mph on lake O in 600 ft of water I will never go back to a transom mount ducer again. performace is way better IMO.
Had my transducer off the transom in my old Lund. Through hull on the new 620. I am totally and pleasantly surprised at how good the finder works at all depths and speeds so far. No comparison. Like the other 620 owners who commented...mine is centred in the hull a couple feet behind my pump access held to the hull in orange epoxy. Great picture.

On my Ranger I have a transom mount and a shoot-thru transducer. The transom mount is on the step, the shoot-thru is almost all the way back to the transom.
Both transducers work great, I never lose bottom with either one regardless of speed or depth.
I use the transom mount 99% of the time, I now have the shoot-thru connected to a combo unit that I use for GPS only. Both transducers give me a nice picture of what's below the boat, but comparing the two side-by-side I like the transom one better, and I don't need to adjust the sensitivity as much to get a picture that I like.
Both work great, I just like the transom one better.
