I'm not a tournament fisherman. I did fish a NAWA event one time as an amatuer though. But I have been friends with many of the original pro's for some time. Watching the sport evolve into the level it has is unbelievable from the early MWC days, when I pre-fished with guys like Fellegy, Stan Berry and the greatest of all, Bob Probst Sr.
Bob Probst Sr. is and always should be recognized as the nucleus of
competitve walleye fishing. I only bring this up, as I see so much talk now about the coming RCL and PWT seasons. I just hope all you anglers understand and are thankful, that are competing these days, for what Bob Sr. created. Someday soon, I hope Bob will compete at least one more time, at the level things are today and be remembered as he so deservingly should be. Bob, if your listening, everyone says "thanks"! All your old friends are grateful and miss you.

Ditto on the kitchen chair. used to always interesting to see his boat sitting in the parking lot at the Ramkota. His fishing seminars back in the 80's were always very entertaining and he taught us alot about fishing for walleyes back then.

many of us appreciate the accomplishments and fishing skills of bob sr. he sure was ahead of his time. this fellow can fish! it appears to me that bob sr. just didn't have the desire to "play the game." the game isn't easy... bob sr. will always be recognized as one of the original "fathers of walleye fishing".

Talked to Bob this past wknd at the Nebraska Walleye Association's annual convention. This guy has forgot more about fishing than most guys and gals will learn in a life time.

Had a buddy of mine also fish with him in one of his last pro/am's. I asked him what he learned. He replied "we actively persued fish all day, he never gave up."

Long live Bob

I met Bob last summer at a fish cleaning station in Pierre. What a treat. That guy sure is an original! He was very open with some fishing tips and pointed out a few hotspots. Good guy.

I just hope someday he gets the 150 hp motor that he won in the 2000 Team Walleye national championship. He deserves it.
