On my LCX-27, I upgraded the software from 1.8.0 to 2.4.0 and that fixed losing bottom in shallow weedy water. Now in 20-40 feet (didnt go deeper than 40) on a hard bottom I get very poor definition with the sensitivity set all the way up! When I go to a soft bottom in that depth its worse! Its not working like it should be.

Switching to General use mode doesn’t fix the problem, as it displays the same.

I have had the unit since last summer and it worked good then on the water where I am having problems with it now. Last summer, I would turn up the sensitivity and the screen would darken up-like its supposed to.

Could the winter storage here in MN have froze my transducer so its not working properly or is it a software issue? Im not sure! All other variables have remained the same.

Anyone have any ideas or has this happened to any of you?

I went through a similar saga after my lms332 started having shallow water problems after an earlier upgrade. Lowrance swapped me for a new lms520. I too have noticed the problems you saw with deeper resolution. I have not tested on the water, yet - but check under system or sonar setup for a transducer type selection screen. This is new - make sure you have the unit set to use the brand and model transducer you have on your boat. I have a hunch we'll both find out at about the same time whether this helps with the problem, or not....
