I was wondering what the real names behind the screen names are. All of these people seem to be pretty good with knowledge on Lake Erie fishing and general fishing aspects period. They also must be die hards seen quite a few posts on some pretty early fishing.Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks George
From What I have seen on here before ETT is Jim Stedke he is a lake erie walleye pro who does seminars and promotions at the winter shows, and also runs ask the exoert on BOATOHIO.com Freebyrd is Steve? who as far as I know is a fisherman who fishes a lot and is a die hard. FISHMAN is Chris Morris who fishes the Michigan walleye tour that lives on the lake and is a very good fisherman. Ezmarc is Marc Hudson he is also a die hard that fishes erie. That is all the info that I know and I hope I have it right and have not offended anyone. If they see this post they can probaly add to it.

George.. not to belabor a point but if you are registered one of the advantages is accessing the bios.
For the one I personaly know.. ETT is Jim Stedke, the ETT stands for Erie Tournament Troller. Jim is a professional angler that fishes Lake Erie. Got to hang around Jim a couple days last summer, besides a great fisherman also a great guy.
OH DID I forget to mention that Jim invented the dipsie diver!

They are some of the countless people on this board who love the sport, and are willing to share their knowledge, experience, and helpful hints to others like me who are novices and learning to get better. This board is a great learning tool, with many side benefits. Seems no matter what kind of question you need help with, someone has done it before and can help you with a wise answer (and sometimes a wisecrack answer!) which may save you some trial and error. I just sat back and read a lot of the posts for almost a year before I registered. I don't personally know any of the names you mentioned, but I feel we're all comrades by sharing the same interest of walleye fishing. Stick around and you'll get to know a lot of other screen names too.
Thanks again for this great board!

Never a dull moment here. Lots of good info. As it was already said, registration does have some advantages. Let's get this cruddy weather over with and start fishing.

WC get-togethers are a great place to put a lot of names and faces together. If you get a chance to attend one, do so. It is worth the fun.
Freebyrd's name is Steve Carlson. He is a serious Erie angler who has just passed the Coast Guard test and is chartering. Steve and I are going to fish the WWA trail as a team.
Fred, I think Luhr Jensen will be quite surpised to hear that I invented the Dipsy Diver, since they make them. I actually had nothing to do with inventing the Dipsys. I am trying to talk them into putting a release on the Jet Divers.
I live in Wapakoneta Ohio and work in Lima (100 miles plus from the lake). You can read my bio on the Boatohio web site.
I appreciate your interest and look forward to helping everyone maximize their enjoyment of walleye fishing, and our great Great Lakes.
By the by... you forgot Den (Denny Braun - Sportsman Outpost Vermilion Ohio) and Airwave (Brian Combs an other good charter captain)

George, I'm Marc Hudson from Fremont, Ohio and work in Clyde treating water. You forgot Sundance and BobOH(Charter) also. Ett's the only one associated with sponsors but if any of those guys say it you can believe it, they all fish for the love of it. I don't know Fishman yet but I'll be surprised if I don't run into him one of these days.
Now the big question, Who are you?
Marc,
You know if you would take all of us Ohio guys off of this board, you would really put a dent in it.
I'm proud to be included with the rest of this bunch of respected (and respectable) fishermen.
Man I need to get on the water. Come on sun!!!

I'm kinda the odd man out among these guys cause I'am basically a drifter. So, I am always getting good info from them especially Freebyrd (Steve) who has helped me set up the boat for (gulp) trolling. Try to help when I can and stand up for Lake Erie and Lake Erie fishermen :-) Someone said attend WC event at Huron and that is right, it's a great time and you get a chance to put faces with the names and meet some great people.
Take a deep breath and relax. The trolling thing is not that big s deal. It's kind of like the fear of the unknown (once it's know there is no fear).
I'm glad to report that after 10 years of trolling, I still like the girls!!! LOL (It was about that bad for us!!!)

Yeah I am sure it will be OK :-) Use to troll a lot with dad but that was long lines and sinkers that looked about like a bottom bouncer :-) Use to catch a bunch around Niagra and Green Is. in the 50s until the lake "died" then picked up driftin and castin when she came back and the livin was easy LOL

George,
As Jim (ETT) said, my name is Steve Carlson. I work in Toledo and live on the lake near Davis-Besse Nuke Plant (yes I kind of have a glow about me lately). I was introduced to fishing at about the age of 2 by my dad, Don - who always made room for me to go. THANKS DAD! Have been fishing on Erie since I was about 4 years old. Trolling pretty serious for the last 10 years or so. Have been VERY fortunate in getting great advice along the way as well as meeting some great people especially in the last 5 years while doing some First Mating for Captain Rick Smith on BusyB. Learned a ton from him and Ronnie Rhodes, ETT's brother Rich Stedke(Shifless), Frank Kittrick (Y-Knot), John Carroll (Captain Hook), Bo Rhodes (Magic Moments), Keith Unkepher (Pooh Bear), Ron Johnson (Thumper), as well as some of the people I've met through Walleye Central Brion Combs (Airwave), Denny Braun at the Sportsman's Outpost 888 855-9032, EZMarc, Rocky, Skipnskul, Sundance, Bob(oh), Denied, Rich Benoit (Lotta Grey) and lots of other people... I fish just about every weekend and usually at least one or two evenings during the summer (which starts as soon as the boat is in the water). Also talk to lots of the drift charter Capts around the Davis Besse area on a regular basis.
Check out my webpage if you'd like:

As some others have said, if you can make it to the Walleye Central Get Together in Huron, OH in November you'll meet some great people and have a great time.
Good Luck,
Steve Carlson

Hi, My name is Chris Morris, I live in Oregon,Ohio right on the bay. I am 22 years old and have been trolling for walleyes since I was 13 years old. That was when I could take a boat out by myself. I have quite a bit of knowledge on the subject and am always willing to share. I work as a machinist for my career. I am fishing the Michigan Walleye Tour and most of the WWA tourneys on Lake Erie. So those of you who don't know me,we can meet at the tourneys. Well good luck to all.
Nice article in Great Lakes Angler ETT it was quite informative.
