I'm looking to either build or purchase parts for a dock, L shaped 16 by 8. A metal one on wheels isn't possible due to thegrade near the
water. Any suggestions or experiences are appreciated. Thanks

Check out the web page on Tommy Docks, they have a comlete line, to build your own. They provide the parts, you built in with your floor plan of choice.
Check them out at: www.tommydocks.com
or call and ask for Cory, at 1-715-359-0506
Hope this helps,

A dock on a cliff or what? I know people that have very steep lakeshore on big lakes where ya have to be 15' from the ice to be safe and they have small docks that they winch, (with a boat strap winch) up the steep bank and chain it off to the post or tree and leave all winter. Easy, and goes in faster yet. I would not waste my time with a build in the water dock, roll ins are much easier. Just think you can put your dock out in the spring in the same time it takes to launch your boat. Build in the water dock will take ya better part of a day by yourself, NO comparison.
To answer your question Menards, Home Depot, Fleet Farm all of them stock dock parts and fittings and you can get the pressure treated wood or better yet the new vinyl decking that has been out for a while, very good material for dock decking.
Good luck

Where are you located? I saw a post for free dock building lumber, pipes and plastic drums on Lake Koshkonong. If your near I'll look it up.
In many cases, lakeshore properties with steep banks or naturally developed banks are most suitable for sectional dock systems... There are a wide variety of sectional systems on the market... Ranging from $250 for a 4X8 section to $750 for a 4X8 section... Inherently, there are many different qualities throughout that price swing... I will be happy to provide a more detailed description at your request... I can be reached at dockman@rea-alp.com
