"Submitted by Three Rivers Marine Electronics from PENNSYLVANIA on 3/22/02 9:51:00 AM"
"We have been informed by Lowrance that production of the new WAAS units such as the LMS-240 and Global Map 2400 has been delayed indefinitely due to the illness of the engineer working on them. Those units such as the iFinder which are already being produced will not be affected. "
I hope the are getting out the X-15's. Anyone else here anything?

I called the Lowrance customer tech department about 10 days ago and was told in around about way (hinted), "not to hold my breath waiting for the hardware and software upgarde to be released soon". The tech was very noncommital to stand on a date. I asked, "do you see it being released this sring?", no answer. I asked again, "do you see it being released this summer?" he answered maybe. I was waiting to buy the waas mapping side to the x-15mt but have ordered the available gps package. I was not going to wait and miss a good portion of my fishing season for it. Also he "GUESSED" that the upgrade would be in the 100-125 dollar range. Even with the delay I love that sonar unit, and am looking forward to using the mapping portion as well.
Just passin' on what I have heard. Let's hope for some warm weather.

It was a toss up for me between a Garmin and waiting for a Lowrance w/ WAAS. I've been patiently waiting for the last month. Someone just made up my mind for me to go with the Garmin. Can't wait any longer.
I just talked to a Lowrance Rep at Bass Pro Shops today in Great Lakes Crossing and he told me that WAAS would not be activated for two more years. So what good does it do if you can't use it for two more years?

According to what I am reading, that holds true only for the international uses, it is supposedly activated here in the US.

Unless this page was published with expectations of activation?

WAAS is active. I have found sales reps to be notoriously unreliable. I spoke to a Lowrance rep at a majopr sports show who was unaware that you could record a sonar track, and if your GPS was on at the time of the recording, that you coould get GPS coordinates on features recorded on the sonar track. Note that this is only for the recording depthfinder/GPS units with an active GPS. You have to play the recording back on your PC.

Anyone know anything about this delay? I also saw the post by Three Rivers on another board, but it has since been removed. Anyone know when Lowrance will release a WAAS capable X-15?

i was told again yesterday at the mpls sports show-2 weeks
2 weeks for the 240's and 2400's didn't ask about x-15
