Hi,
I am inquiring when mayflies hatch. I have read they hatch according to water temps. I have also read they hatch in water temps ranging from 46f - 60f. If location or area matters, I am inquiring about northern Wisc.
Thanks for any info concerning mayflies and walleye.

Kevin,
I'm not an expert on mayflies, nor on anything else, but since no one else has responded to your query, I'll comment briefly.
There seems to be different varieties of mayflies that hatch at different times of the summer. There are a number of sizes and colors. Usually any particular hatch seems to just have one type.
A good reference source, with pictures, is shown in McClane's Standard Fishing Encyclopedia by A.J.McClane. Also, if you do a Goggle on mayflies, you should find enough information to keep you occupied for some time.

It appears that the mayfly hatch is starting right now on a few of the lakes in Minocqua. I was out this past weekend and did see some around.

I was just across the WI/UP border near Presque Isle last week and the Mayfly were just starting to hatch. Water surface temp was 60 to 61 and the gills were moving into the shallows to spawn. The hatch should be going heavy right now with the warmer temps.

I found this interesting. Take note of the dates as you search through (mayflys on radar) and see about what time of year they usually have large hatches.
