My livewell will not drain on my Alumacraft Navigator. The drain lever seems to be operating normally so it may be plugged. How do I find out if it is the valve or if it is plugged. If it is plugged, how do I go about unplugging it? Do I have to pull up the entire floor in the bow to get at the valve or is there some way of just pulling the livewell out? Thanks for any help.

Try taking the garden hose and spraying up the discharge end of your boat, sometimes a back pressure will free the blockage if there's one.

On my 04 TS 185 the bow livewell drain valve is under the trolling motor battery trays which are under the center rod locker. I didn't know it was there on my rig till I changed the trays. There are openings under the trays that allow access to the valve. The cable linkage may have come loose from the valve.

My Mag did the same thing. There was a minnow stuck in the drain, might want to check that before you start diging around in the valves.

My Triton had same problem when a walleye yacked up a perch which got stuck in the drain. Some careful probing with a piece of wire and some water pressure from the garden hose cleaned it right out.

Several times over the years I had trouble draining my livewell, usually while using the livewell to hold live bait in Florida. The bait was lake shiners of a variety of sizes. Sometimes one would get into the drain line and plug things up. After a couple of days they usually deteriorated enough that they came out on their own. Once I ran a small bamboo pole into the drain line from the backside of the transon. I was very careful not to force it and it cleared the shiner out.
