View Full Version : Scotty Orca vs Folbe
I am looking at trying one of the two. I have read really good review on the Folby. The Scotty Orca seems to be a take off on the Folbe. I can buy the Scotty Orca for a much better price. Can anyone say how the Scotty Orca compares to the Folbe. I cannot find any reviews on the Scotty Orca.

I have the orcas on my boat, six of them. Mounted two years ago, and they get quite a bit of usage including removing them constantly when covering boat. Never had a problem with them and they still are like new with no real visible wear and tear. Haven't used the Folbe, altho' I considered them when I bought the orcas. The Folbe "straight lift" feature I thought was a nice touch, but when buying six set ups at such a price difference I didn't think it was worth it. Now after using the orcas for 2 years, I'm completely happy with the orcas even tho' I don't have that straight lift feature...not sure how they'd work with riggers 'n planing boards anyway...or dipseys for that matter.
Maybe someone will step up with that info for you. If them babys ever popped open while dragging a big dipsey, you'd be shopping for new rod/reel combo.

I have 4 of the Folbe's and I like the straight up feature, they do have a lock on them so if your trolling or such you can lock them in, pull a knob and they unlock, takes but just a second.
Took a bit to get used to the straight up thing, was to easy to try and pick up the rod at a angle and they won't release.
Haven't used the Scotty ones, but I'd buy the Folbe again.

Scotty describes their release as straight up by grabbing the rod to the rear and front of the holder and lifting straight up to release. This sounds the same as the Folbe. Is this not the case?

Bumping this as I am also interested in the differences between these two holders.
Can anyone else comment?
