The question is if a prop could be down pitched enough to pick up a min. of 300 RPMS and would ultimately like 600 RPM's. This is the situation.
My boat is a 1992 Gary Roach 1890 ProV. I now have a 2009 90HP E-Tech,
the boat had a 1992 85HP V4 Backtroller Evinrude. I have and had a Stiletto 131/4 X 15R SS 3Bld Prop. The boat with the old motor was turning 5200 RPM's at WOT with a full load and a 9.9 Mercury Kicker motor. The same boat with the same load minus the kicker with the new E-Tech is only getting 4650 RPMS at WOT. I would prefer to be in the middle of the RPM range which is 4500 to 5500. Now here is the interesting part I was told by a custom prop builder that the Stiletto prop actually measures 17 inches of pitch. Do I look for a SS prp that truly is a 15P or can this present prop be reworked to a 15P and will that be enough to where I want to be?????

[QUOTE=FinsNFeet;1114765]The question is if a prop could be down pitched enough to pick up a min. of 300 RPMS and would ultimately like 600 RPM's.

You should be able to get 300 rpms, but won't be able to get the 600 rpms. You going to have to go with a ss prop that doesn't have so much rake and cupping, like the OMC black sst or the powertech ELE 3, those props should turn a 15 pitch no problem, and raise your rpms up to where they should be.

I can back up propman's info as spot on. You could get 400 at the very most. His suggestions should do it for the reasons he stated.

I looked into those props you suggested. I was unable to locate a 13.25 x 15 pitch SS prop. I have found a few that are 13.50 x 15. One that was the 13.25 x 15p made by Express Stainless steel Prop. for $377. With this boat and motor can I play with the 13.25 measurement. I did see some props while surfing the net at 14 x 15p What would that do for me if anything? Any suggestions on where to look. Finally what are the chances that the new tach on the new motor could be off?

I spoke with a sales rep. from Power Tech, Steve. He was very helpful and spent considerable amount of time with me trying to solve my problem. This was a refreshing experience for me, He didn't take the easy way out and just suggest a lower pitch prop that may or may not have solved the problem or address the issue at hand correctly. He offered other options and gave me a few options to explore before making the investment into another prop. The one that I found most interesting was this. " He suggested that since I was getting the performance with the present prop with the older motor, and the only other factor in the equation to change was the removal of the 9.9 Mercury. He suggested that the extra weight might have caused the bow to come up easier creating less drag and less load on the motor allowing the rpms to go up. He suggested that I try to put the 9.9 back on and see how this effects the rpms. "
What do you guys think of this? It will unfortunately be a week before I can test this theory, but I like the train of thought.

Makes since to me; I moved my 29 starter battery to the back starboard side because I had put a 9.9 pro kicker on Port and picked up 3 mile and hour on GPS. That is on a 1800 Pro V, tiller, 75 hp. 1990 version Gary Rouch. 33 mph with a 13.75 by 15 degree. I had the battery up front before.
