Going to Rainy in 2-3 weeks. Can you fish the Canadian side if you stay in MN? If you have to stay in Canada, is there a decent place to stay? Would it be best to go over the 6th or the 13th of April? Thanks for any advice.
You can fish the canadien side only if:
Get remote border crossing permit,very simple to do at customs at border. I dont remember axactly but around $35 last 2 years.No criminal record.
Go onto canada get liscense, $22 for conservation tag. You can still keep 2 fish under 18.1 inches.
Buy bait and keep reciept, not supposed to bring back into us but never been checked. Even if they made you discard coming back into US you still have a reciept go get more in US, rainbows are rainbows in cacada or US.
No alcohol allowed in boat in canada.
The whole process takes me about 1 hour and approx $65. well worth to not be tied to half a river. If you are polite at candien customs and when you are checked on river(by customs are conservation officers) no problem at all.
