If you had only (1) crank to use trolling Walleyes on Oahe, what color & brand would you prefer? This should be interesting.

I would choose a firetiger reef runner

I've had no other body of water that has been so drastically skewed to a single style, size, and color of crank. Therefore, it must remain a secret.

My only hint, it's the one I have 30 of just prior to trolling the trees.

fire tiger, size depends of what depth you want, rapala, reef runner, wally divers all work.

This is the truth here. I caught all kinds of fish in firetiger in Mobridge when I was in high school, including back to back 5.x pound walleyes from shore. Now THAT was a good day.

I just came home from two weeks on Oahe and the lure that worked best for me was a Reef Runner that was white with a black pattern on the sides with a black back.

Must be Nurse Betsy or White Tiger

I've trolled cranks on OAHE since the early 90's, and back then Wally Diver's, & Bombers were what I mainly used. I have luck on Rapalas and some days they are the ticket, but over all this time there is one crank that I've nicknamed "THE CHAMP". Its a Wally Diver, and the color is called Super Shad. It is purpleish-blue with a white bottom and pick eyes. Both sizes are now called "The Champ" There are days it gets outfished, but more times than not it works great. I even caught my biggest largemouth on it, and some nice trout in the Black Hills streams. Last Tues. Lately I've not fished it so much, but my buddy put the jointed little one on last Tues. and caught 3 fish in about 10 minutes. Its colored better for early morning and sundown, which is when I find it on the end of my line the most.

So many cranks in my tackel box, so little time to try them all.

Those colors are all great, and ive tried a few with success too, guess everyone has their own favorite color!

I have also caught some larger fish on jointed lures up on Oahe...

So far for me, the hot bait this year has been the 200 series eriedescent rip shad. Historically the deep little rippers produce well along the the deep husky jerks, but those baits are not producing as well this year.

I'm with you hogslammer on your choice...Last year while there for the Cabela's NTC I did have some decent pre-fishing on 400 Ripshads and really pounding bottom in that 10'-15' depths. Eriedecent and Chrome Eriedecent worked well as did the charteuse body w/blk head (can't remember the pet name) deep little ripper in more stained water.
