I'm looking to buy a boat that has a 135 Opti on it with smartcraft guages. The owner doesn't know anything about them and I thought I saw a thread somewhere that said you could troll slower with them. Is this true and how does it work? He has the round guages and a square digital guage that really just shows you what's going on....volts, rpm's, fuel consumption, etc... How do they help you troll slower?

im not sure on an opti but on the verados it lets ya idle down to 550rpm...and it stays there. than you can adjust the rpms at 10rpm increments....pretty slick. however im not sure what it does on a 2 cycle.

if the tach or speedo have (3) buttons on the face, here is the manual on how to use them (troll control is pages 11-12). http://www.mercurymarine.com/_media/pdfs/precisionrigging/smartcraft_manuals/System_Tach_and%20Speed_Manual.pdf

if the tach and speedo do not have these buttons on the face, then you do not have the troll control feature. But, depending on the year of the Opti, you could swap the gauges to this style, and have it.
