I'd put one on for the peace of mind. Nothing worse than going over a bump and seeing the motor bobbing and torquing the transom.

Always a smart choice to get a transom saver. just spring for it.

I use a transom saver......but..... The amount of stress that is put on a hull/transome when driving down the highway is nothing compared to the stress that is put on it when running rough water or even going from idle to WOT..... Just alittle food for thought.....and I am not saying that you dont need one but its not like your engine will fall of if you dont.:yum:

Weight of the motor has a lot to do whether or not you need a transom saver. I had a 1750 Tyee Lund with a 110 V-4 Johnson and traveled many hundreds of miles with no problems over rough roads and all. When I stepped up to a V-6 Mariner it didn't take long and I had a broken transom. I used the travel lock on both motors when traveling. The V-6 motor weighing in at 409 lbs which was about 50 lbs more than the V-4. I don't even take my boat around the block now without the transom saver in place. It cost me $500 dollars to get an alluminum cap made andinstalled on the Lund so it would handle the the larger motor. So...what am I saying? Its better to spend a few dollars for a transom saver and not need it than to go without and be several hundred dollars lighter in the wallet. Just my 2 cents worth.
