Does anybody know how to get my Pinpoint 7520 out of simmulation mode?

The Owners Manual says:
"If you're running a positioning motor connect your sonar display to your motor, turn on the display without turning on your motor and the display will go into simulation".
"If you're running a standalone display simply disconnect your transducer connector from the back of your display and turn your unit "on" after 5 seconds the display will go into simulation".
Perhaps either the motor is not on, or the transducer connector is not making contact.

Yeah, I know.
As I tried to indicate, either the motor was not turned on, in which case it needs to be turned on to stop the simulation mode, or... the transducer connector was not fully connected, in which case it needs to be connected to stop the simulation mode. Sorta work backwards from the directions for turning simulation on. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.
Bottom line (no pun intended, as that is/was also the name of a depth sounder) is..did the prescribed work?
