Greetings,

I have been trying to get to the bottom of several issues with my lcx 25c. Now I have another. I recently broke my old transducer, and purchased a new one. The new one was like a dream, with my unit working/reading better than I can ever remember it doing so before... for about 3 months. Now, last night I was fishing a shallow mud flat(2-5') and my unit started to act up. I just shrugged it off as probably weeds or leaves on the transducer and turned it off, cleaned the ducer, then back on. Same trouble. i get out into deeper water, and now it reads but I need to turn my sens way up to get any type of bottom reading, and still no bait or fish. I did not hit anything, or run through a weed bed, simply fished for a few hours in very shallow water. Could I have fried my transducer somehow?

I had the same problem after installing updated software a couple of years ago. Someone from this site sent me the old version and I re-installed it, and it took care of my problem. Let me know what version your software is and if it is not version 1.7 I can send it to you and see if that helps. Jim

I am running the 1.7 I have gone through the update trouble and back dated the unit last year. Unit was really working great till the other day. I think I'll switch it out to a friends boat and try his 'ducer, and work from there. Thanks!

I updated mine 25C to 2.1 and had to have lowrance send me the original 1.2 version to get it to read in the weeds and shallow water. I have the 1.6 version in a file but haven't loaded it yet, I am afraid to.

If you can try your unit on another transducer -- that might answer your question.

From my experience, if you are in deeper water and end up having to turn the sensativity way up and still don't get a good bottom reading, the transducer has probably gone bad and will need replacing.

There isn't any way to test transducers that I have learned, so the next best thing is to hook your unit up to another transducer if you can and see if it works properly or not, if not -- then it is the transducer.

At least -- my humble opionion.

I have a 25C with version 1.6 and it works great. I wouldn't hesitate to run this version, but nothing newer. Every newer version I've heard of problems with.
