Hard to tell from a book, so why not ask a few hundred of my closest friends!
Looking for pro's and con's if anyone has evaluated both.

Last year when I was trying to decide between the Guidewear and XCR I called Cabela's and talked to one of their tech. guys. He really knew both products well and after talking with him my choice was clear, Guidewear. Quite seriously, the XCR got thrown right out of the running.
The Jacket/Parka dilemma.... Personal preference. I like the parka. When it comes to rainwear that really keeps out the water, forget a waist length jacket and forget pants. Bibs and parka are the driest combo.
Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

Thanks Matt,
Thats exactly what I was looking for. I talked to a girl at Cabela's and she didnt really have a clue. In their defense, it was 9 at night, so I probably should have called durring the day.

I made the switch from an old set of Cabela's Dri-Plus to the Guidewear last year..just in time for the Erie outing. Best move I ever made. I too, called Cabela's and discussed options. My question was insulated vs non-insulated and jacket vs parka. The info was very good and the rep really knew his stuff. My old gear was a parka and pants but I went with the jacket and bibs. The jacket is less restrictive when you're moving around a lot but the bibs prevent getting wet.....and they really got tested the day of the outing tournament !! I also went w/ the non-insulated set and picked up a set of Polar Tech 200 for an under-layer. When you couple that w/ a high tech base layer, you can't stay any drier, more comfortable, or more able to change w/ the conditions. I have a light weight set of Stearn's gear for summet time use and now use the old set of Dri-Plus for a boat spare in case somebody forgets.

Is the 200 Polartech any different or warmer than a regular fleece, or the so called "performance" fleece?
