Scotty has the boys going in the right direction! Unless they beat themselves, things look good to bring the cup back where it belongs.I miss the 3 rd period(don't ask), how did Avery do in has fight? pete

They both landed a couple of good right hands, but Avery's landed right on the button. Big time blood from the mouth.. This should spark things up if they meet in the playoffs.

They'll meet in the playoffs, and it will be a battle, a real war. Not to stir the pot too much but just wait the Avs will have more years on top than the Wings, the Wings are the best this year, but you can only buy a cup forso long. They are teh most talented team but those markee players will fade in the near future. But the Wings are the team to beat, thats for sure, but watch out for the blackhawks, with solid younger talent they should be able to really make a run. GO MIKE, and GO AVS. I'll never root for the Wings but I will give them credit for playing better then anyone else in teh league this year.

Oh yeah I missed the game because I had one of my own to play in, who scored the goals?

I'm with you fife, oh well I guess you have to say that if your for Colorado. hehe As for the Black Hawks, sorry Mike but they are a little young yet, but they do have talent. The playoffs are a lot different then regular season, so we'll see. You never know..

Kevin, what the word on Forsberg? I know he's be out all year but what did he do?

A couple things in reveorder to your post, Forsberg is sidelined with fractures in the foot, which is why he failed the team physical for camp. He is progressing nicely and might be ready come playoffs, will depend on foot strenght. Every year in the playoffs there's a team that really surprises teams in each confrences or atleast does better than expected and I pick the hawks to surprise a lot of folks. To much energy to surpress as long as they channel it. As for the avs having more years on top look at the preposition again, future tense, "will have". The AVS are the best at developing talent while maintaining a strong veteran core, or atleast they are right now, look at their ability over the last couple years to bring in young players to fill roster spots from injurries. Other teams have generation groups and they will be dominant for a period then fade, but look at the Wings, their big guns can only be as elite as they are for so long till age catches up with them. The wings are on top right now but in the last 6 years its been split evenly between the Wings, the Stars, and the AVS with the AVS lasting longer in the playoffs normally than the other teams when not on top. The only way the Wings can truly stay on the top as they are right now is if those wilely old veterans can hang out long enough and carry the team enough to develop the youthful potential the team has and establish a group that can take over. All of this is opinion of course, but credit where credit is do.

R--O--Y !!! Rhymes with boy. What a cheap shot artist! Wait until they run him behind the net when they've got a lead in the last playoff game. Then it'll be payback time.
First they knock Maltby into the net and then ROY jumps on him and starts punching him as he's trying to get up and out of the net. Watch out Avs. We're puttin on the Foil. Oldtime Hockey. Gotta love it! I'm not saying Goon hockey either. I'm saying protect your own hockey; so some cheap shot doesn't screw up your playoff run.

Cheap shots can be in the eye of the beholder. As an example, Hasek rolled right into Roy's knee from behind. Kevin's right about the AVs and their young talent. Keep your eye on Radim Vrbata. He was a sixth round pick last year and has 14 goals this season as a rookie. I don't see the Av's going very far in the playoffs this year unless they can get something out of Forsberg. They just don't have enough offense without him. Patty Roy will have to have shutouts every game.
I think the two teams to watch in addition to the Wings will be the Canucks and Kings. Both teams are well balanced and would have even better records if they hadn't been without key players due to injuries and suspensions early in the year.

Looking forward to the playoffs as a pleasant distraction until we get soft water again.

Didn't see the game because I was playing in my own but to the cheap shots its to subjective. Every player feels they were cheap shotted first and only retaliating in response to that. Roy probably didn't know maltby was pushed only that Maltby ended up on top of him so he felt the need to hit Maltby. Retaliation is so skecthy that pointing fingers doesn't make a difference. Both teams would love a chance to get physical with each other, but there's not going to be any gooning it up or old school hockey, just grunt hockey with alot of grinding and digging. Enforcers will remember but nobody is going to go to those extremes. Oh yeah AVS don't make it past confrence finals maybe quarters unless they get more offense. Its Wings to loose in the west.

I hear ya tom, but then Roy doesn't have to look over his shoulder if he doesn't jump on Maltby in the first place. He brings a lot more attention to himself than most goalies just by the way he plays. He isn't the only goalie slapping people with the stick but he's pretty good at it. Loved the old days when Mr. Probert would keep things right on the ice. He dealt retribution with in a swift and sure fashion. Everybody knew they had to play fairly clean or he was going to take'em to the woodshed.

Hey buddy, I got to disagree with ya this time. These two teams have too much history between them to just forget it this year. In a close Series they would have to keep things on a smart level with less penalties but I don't see that happening this year if they meet in the playoffs. Therefore I think late in a Series the chippy stuff will start from both teams and the retaliations after that and it will become a free-for-all. This time the Dominator might be able to skate all the way to Roy before he falls down.(lol)

P.S. Stevie Y. will be ready to pay again once the playoffs start. Just in case some of you guys out West hadn't heard. He's just resting the knee to make sure it isn't re-injured before then.

For sure, if they meet in the playoffs that elimination game is going to get real ugly real fast for the loosing team. But think back to the last year there was a true bloodbath in teh course of the year over the rivalry. The playoff series was really pretty clean, or atleast relatively so. It was extremely physical but not dirty. Pros are pros for a reason and I don't see them getting too chippy till the end of the series, if there is one.

That's exactly what I'm saying. With goalies the caliber that both teams put on the ice, the other team can't afford to give them too many power play opportunity's. One goal is likely to decide these games. (Wings in 5. I'll give you one game.)

I have lived all of my life in Colorado and love the Avs, however before most of CO knew what hockey even was the Wings were winning championships...here is hoping for another...GO REDWINGS

Going to be a good season for night time walleye up north again this year :) :) Red Wings playoff games on the radios, small flashlight, waders and jig's. Big river tuggers spawned out and lean and mean. Jigs and the Red Wings playoffs go together like Tiger baseball, Jitterbugs, Bass and bullheads. Tigers really screwed up when they left WJR for the whatever where ever station they broadcast on now. They both lost out on that brainstorm. Miss those night games fishing anywhere in the Midwest!!!

Wings in 6 loose off the bat get pissed then relaxed after 3 routings of the AVS then get surprised in the elimination game.
