HI: I usally frequent the muskie side of this site but this is a topic that deserves the attention of all fishermen and hunters.

There is an online petition to the IRS for them to revoke the tax exempt status of PETA. Those wonderful folks that would take away our fishing and hunting rights. If we can hit them in the wallet we can hurt them. I'm asking that you go to the website, view the petition, and sign it. Then encourage your hunting and fishing buddies to sign it also. Here's the website:

www.petitiononline.com/rvkptaex/petition.html

Remember the rights you help save are your own. Thanks

Maybe Im just skeptical, but this looks like a good way for someone to get your email info and other personal information.

TravisC

Yeah, I got the email back, too. This whole thing was probably generated by PETA in the first place!

If this was infact generated by PETA anyone that signed and gave email addy be prepared for an onslaought of spam from them not to mention virus' and such. I have heard that they send sportsman virus' usually with a hunting or fishing related subject. I think I will patiently wait until this is proven not to be from PETA.

Perchjerker,

Petitiononline is REALLY good about not sharing that info. I have signed several petitions with an email address I created just for that purpose and have yet to get any spam. They say they will not share your info and so far they seemed to have kept their word. If you don't believe me you can use a fake email address. :)

Thanks for the help guys! The count is up to around 3,000 now. I was informed tonight that a full name signature is requried, otherwise the signature will be thrown out.

Please tell all of your hunting and fishing buddies also. Also help me spread the word. Any place that you can think of to let people know about this, tell them, post it, shout it from the roof tops! Let's shoot for a million signatures.

Please be aware that I have nothing to do with creating the petition. I'm just trying to spread the word.

Does anybody know of any trappers?

I got an e-mail back also, but I didn't notice anything about it being sponsered by peta. God if this is a fake, will I feel stupid. I posted this in good faith. I hope I wasn't suckered as I also signed.

I went to the peta site and tried to find an e-mail address. Everything I found was peta.org or .com couldn't really find a true e-mail address for them.

Note to JasonMn: You seem to have had previous experience with petitions online. Are they legit?

I went to the homepage of petitions online, and they seem legit to me. If you look at the e-mail address the petaa@petaa is probadly short for petitions on line. You can get to their homepage by clicking the link to the petition and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There is a link to the homepage there. Let's shut PETA down.

Just an FYI for those of you that signed the petition and were wondering about the confirmation email you got with the petaa@petaa.com email (the person who originated the petition) in it. If you go to www.petaa.com you will see what that's all about. Petaa is not associated with Peta, but rather it stands for Putting an End To Absurd Activism.

So if you haven't signed yet, be sure to check out the petition. It will be well worth your time to do so.

Almost 6,000. I joined the club! It is time that their status is reviewed and changed if appropriate! I believe they should no longer be allowed to operate as a tax free orginization.

Number 7524, let's hope this is legit and is the first nail in PETA's coffin. When these radical groups have done as much for wildlife as us hunters and fisherman, then they will have some credibility. We do more to protect wildlife with our liscense dollars than they ever will with their administrative costs and big salaries. Remember reading an article in a recent issue of Outdoor Life about where the dollars donated to such charities are spent. If I remember correctly the Sierra Club was the worst, spending over 90 percent of donated monies on administrative costs and less than 10 percent helping the cause. The top ranked in the article was The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, they returned the greatest percentage back to their cause of habitat development and wildlife. Can't recall their exact percentages though. We can do alot as sportsman, we just need to get involved and not be afraid to give something back either in charitable contributions or sweat equity. Time to get off my sopabox now, can't wait for the ice to melt.

Take care and good fishing,

Bob M

PetitionOnline is legit.

7767

In searching other petitions I was knocked off my chair by one for PETA to have www.BonsaiKitten.com removed and punished.

The funny part is that that website is a JOKE! A sick one for sure, but not for real and obviously so. There are some real wakos with WAY too much time. "Idle hands...."

I was 16,589! Petion-online is a very legit organization. They did the Dale Earnhardt petition for the State of Florida to keep his autopsy results private for the family. I feel safe with them.

I wonder if Peta will get the idea, or just feel "persecuted"? They are extremely dense and naive(afterall, who advertises "drink beer, not milk" aimed at teens).
