when i trim up in shallow water or after i unloaded the boat my E-Tec will hop or jerk as i trim down. when it reaches a certain spot it will operate smooth as it should. is this normal because of the weight of the motor or what:huh:any thoughts are welcome thanks in advance. John

Mine did it too until I raised it all the way up and held for about 5 sec and then lowered to the lowest poistion and did the same thing. Something about air in the system and bleeding it out.

grease the tilt tube fittings and use a brush or fingers to grease the center tilt ram and the 2 trim rams of the trim & tilt hydraulic unit.

Tighten the stb tilt tube nut 1/16 turn at a time until the shaking goes away. It only shakes or bounces in the tilt range, not the trim range.

You can see how this works by having someone pull up on the "cavitation plate" while the motor tilts down and the bounce goes away.
