I have a 7 year old Lowrance LCX15-MT. The unit works fine however the screen is hazy, making it difficult to see on a sunny day. It appears that the screen has been affected by the sun however I am unsure of the exact cause. Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this?

What have you been using to clean that screen? Abrasive cloth or cleaners will etch the plastic and create a haze.

To be honest, I've never cleaned the screen. It never needed cleaning. The only time I ever touched the screen is with a clean soft cloth when it is wet with rain or dew. The boat sits out of the sun in a boat lift with a canopy for most of the summer.

I had a similar problem with a LMS-350, the screen was hazy and flakey, caused by the sun. I talked to Lowrance and they had me polish the screen with plastic polish, the kind I used was Meguires which was in the auto parts section of the store. It worked great, since then I've cleaned up the screen on a handheld gps unit and a cell phone. You may want to try that????????

Thanks. I'll try that.

I talked to Meguiars for their recommendation since they have so many products at seem to apply to this application. They said to use the PlastX polish. As soon as I use it I will comment on how it works.

They make a product for cleaning I Pod and other electronics screens, that also eliminates scratches and often smears and haze. Safe for TFT, VGA, QVGA, and other modern screens. Most electronics stores carry it now, works very well.

Ive seen badly damaged H2O displays brought back to near new condition, so it often is the trick.
