Is there another preferred lubricant other then Liqualube that can be used in these hubs. Prefer a synthetic.

I use 50 weight racing oil in my ranger traile hubs. My trailer is a 05 with lots of miles, I change the oil once a year. Bearings are in like new condition.

Why do wantan alternative? The people at LL are very friendly and will ship fast if you can't find it locally. Call them, they might have dealer in the area you didn't know of.

This post made me remember I haven't touched my LL hubs for 3 years. I called and ordered a bottle of lubricant just now. You can't beat their service, friendliness, or advice. This system is the best money I've ever spent on my trailer. Thanks again to Perchjerker for the referral.

No, it's a racing oil. At operating temp a 50 weight ENGINE oil is about the same viscosity as a 90 weight GEAR oil at temp.

50 weight racing oil is often used in high RPM sport bikes, high horespower drag bikes and cars, alcohol burning cars, and my oil bath hubs. :grin: It was recommended to me by many.

50 weight oil is what Ranger recommends in their hubs. Prestige trailers and some others that have liquid hubs recommend 50w as well. Liqua-lube has their own lube which is fully synthetic, absorbs up to 30% of its own weight in water and creates more lubricant and has the consistancy of about 20 weight oil. Would'nt you think these hubs would turn a little easier and therefore pull a little easier? This is a no brainer to me!

About a year ago I contacted Prestige about this, they recommended Royal Purple Synthetic 50 Wt. Kind of hard to find, finally ordered from JEGS. Too bad about Prestige, they were very helpful with any questions.

Birddog is right on. Ranger recommends (and uses from the factory) 50W Valvoline Racing oil You can find it at WalMart. This is per the guy I spoke to in the trailer department.

I got a jug of 50w syn. from a semi place, they pumped it out of a 50gal. drum lol. I change it every year, it's so easy to do just remove the small plug and wait.....I use a big syringe to fill.
