2002 yamaha 80 hp

Just purchased a boat with a 80 hp yamaha it has a wing nut to tighten the stearing my t8 has a lever or slide wondering if I can switch the 80 over to the way the t8 is Thanks for any input Blue

looking at the online parts manual, a 2002 F80 should have a lever like your T8, not a wingnut. Someone's been messin' with that motor. I'm sure big_crappie could get you the parts you need.

Mine came with a wing nut also. I don't have to deal with it now though since getting the Titan steering system. I did alot of trolling and was constantly messing with that tensioner and don't blame you for looking at doing something different.

That one I do not know but I am researching now. I have a call in to Yammie Tech line, will post when I get an answer.
