I have a 50 hp merc circa 1992 and the doesn't shoot watere out little hole . I just had the water pump, impeller replaced. Used the boat for 2 days and it did not overheat. I felt the motor and it was cool after hard use. Is there something i am missing.

Could be a piece of sand or an insect nest in the "pee" hole. Try sticking a piece of wire gently into the hole to dislodge it.
Good luck,

Have you tried running the motor with the cowling off to see if you have water running down the inside? You stated that you just had a new water pump impeller installed, it's possible that when the boat was being worked on something didn't get put back right......(hey where did these spare parts come from?!)
You said that the motor isn't overheating so that means the water is getting to where it needs to in order to keep the motor cool, it just isn't making it back out the way it is supposed to.
Of course I could be off by a million miles. Hard to diganose an engine issue while sitting at a computer keyboard no where near the engine.
Good luck.

I have an 04 that does the same thing. After the water leaves the motor there is a tube to the pee hole remove this tube as close to the motor as possible, take a air nozzle and put into the pee hole and blow back to the motor. I always put may hand there to catch debri.

My 40 merc did this a couple weeks ago. I stuck a piece of wire in the pee hole while it was running and BAM the debris cleared.

The reason I suggested running with the cowling off to see if the hose was disconnected is because he stated that the motor was cool after hard use. He ran it this way for two days and the motor never overheated and after being run hard was cool to the touch.
My thinking here is that if the "pee hole" or the hose leading from the block to the hole had a blockage in it eventually the motor would get hot from hard use (like 5 minutes or more at full throttle). It is really no different than having a bad thermostat in your automobile engine. You keep circulating the same water in the motor, eventually it is going to reach the boiling point, possibly cook off and then..........bad news.
cprost is correct. The engine is still being cooled properly, the cooling water goes out the exhaust.
