View Full Version : Lake Mille Lacs Ice Out
So with all the current conversation on Mille Lacs, does anyone know of the current ice conditions? What are the thoughts on when the ice will go out. I'm guessing at the earliest, April, 30th. I hope you are all as excited as I to get out on the lake. It is gonna be a great year!

it's funny we had such a rotten year for ice and now watch it not go out till a week b4 opener or some stupid thing like that. i would say....may 1st
If I remember correctly the average is April 24th. With the relatively thin ice (~20") this year,my vote is for April 21st.

"Mille Lacs Latest Ice out. May 8, 1975"
So, you are predicting the latest ice out ever? That's funny!!!
I'd go with April 20th. Give or take 2 days. Heck, last year was way colder and it went out in the first few days of May.

Hey pitts Ill be breaking out the dynomite if it takes that long!
LOL.
See ya on the water.
I certainly think that it is going to be in the first or 2nd week of may.
After all - there is about 25 inches of ice on much of the lake.
IT is going to take a bunch of WARM stuff - and best of all - if we had a bunch of wind, and about 6 inche of rain - then, it might be out in a couple of days.
If the weather malingers - like some folks have been known to do from time to time - then it will be the 4th of july before the ice fades from the scene.
Take care

There is more ice out there now than there was at this time last year, the warm winter we had in jan and feb means nothing now. I'll say May 2nd.
