Surprised.

I just heard that Co-Anglers need to have a Canadian
fishing license before the start of the
rules meeting for the Detroit River RCL. Does anyone know
if this is true? Is it hard to get one? Time is really
getting short now.
Surprised.
Yes, I have heard that the co-anglers need a Canadien license as well as an Ohio license as some pros will be fishing Erie.

This is pretty much standard when you are on the Detroit River. You will probably need Michican and Canadian license for sure and maybe Ohio. The Bottom Line Bait & Tackle can assist in getting your Canadian and they have Mich and Ohio at the store. Give them a call at 734-379-9762 and ask for Joe or Bill.
You can get Canadian license on the water at Duff's Marina on the North end of Boblow island, their number is 519-736-3663.
Another option for the Canadian is to call the Canadian DNR at 800-667-1940.
By the way, I hear that the RCL is a full field. Sure glad I got in last month instead of waiting.

You might also want to check with your Pro angler and see if you will need a Ohio license too. It the winds are kind, a lot of boats will be heading east.

If you don't have an ontario fishing license you might have a problem, I heard that the Ministries is on strike. So I'd get on the phone right away and see what's going on. One guy I talked to said that he called and they took his info. and told him they didn't know when he would recieve it. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

I don,t think a canadian licence will do much good do to the reduced limit of 4 fish. There are several bigfish spots here, however,it would be tricky culling a limit of 4. MNR is on strike, watch for coast guard and rcmp. Good luck see ya on the water.

From what I understand, there is no one to process the application on line anywhere right now. If someone has received one in the last week could you please post?? It was suggested to me that I drive over and get one over the counter at one of the agent stores. Canadian Tire in Sarnia, Duffs near Amerstburg. I would not try to just run your boat over to Duffs without asking permission from the Canadian Government via marine radio.... They are saying they will board and arrest those in violation of circumventing customs due to increased security post 9/11. I would suggest folks just take the extra hour and drive over...it sure beats making those mounties angry. Hope the weather straitens out for you guys. 6 to 8 inches of snow in the forcast for tommorro and Weds...you can sure tell it's tourney time.....Mark

Mine came today. Ordered on-line 9 days ago from a Ohio address. 7 dollar handling fee was well worth it.

Just a word from a couple guys that made the trip across the border to pick one up...U.S. customs are really interrogating some folks...they asked my buddies to produce a birth certificate and advised them they were going to make them stay in Canada if they didn't have one...after 30 minutes of checking they let them go...both are good Americans, one is a school teacher..If your gonna drive over you may want to take your birth certificate....good Luck everybody...catch a bunch.
