I am trying to decide between a Ranger 1850 Reata, a Lund 186GL Tyee, a Triton 192 Allure, or a Nitro 290 Sport. All fish & skiis. I have driven the Ranger and the Lund. Anybody know any dealers that a person could drive the other two. I would think the Triton would be the same, or about the same as the Lund. I am taking a long time trying to decide which one to buy and I won't buy anything I can't actually drive. I bought a new 2001 1850 Crestliner a few years ago that if I had driven it in rough water, I never would have bought it. I don't want to make the same mistake again. Thanks for any ideas!

since you don't have your location in your profile, you might want to give the audience some idea what area of the country you're looking in,,,,,,,,,.

Alexandria Boat & Dock in Alexandria,Mn had a blue 290 earlier this summer and there was possibly one at a dealer near the Twin Cities. My 290 has been a great boat and my family says this is the best "fishing" boat ever! Check out my profile for photos on my rigging.
Good Luck Mike

If you are serious, give Tom at Tyndall Motors a call. They are just west of Yankton, SD. The closest guy I can think of to you is a customer in Sioux City that loves his 290. They have two in stock at the store. www.tyndallmotors.com

I did the same thing with a Lund Sport Angler. First time on the water in moderate to light chop I think I broke my spine in fifteen different places. Talk about very expensive buyers remorse.

How did the boats you've driven compare?

I drove both boats in rough water conditons. Both cut thru the waves real well and were dry. I like the Ranger because it definitely had a more solid feel in the waves and I like the lower sides for fishing in windy days. The Lund sounded more hollow when hitting the waves. Not a lot of difference, both very nice boats, but I prefer the Ranger. I just wish the Ranger was rated for 8 people instead of 7. We will quite often want to have 8 people in the boat. I am trying to find a leftover 2050 laying around at some dealer that he will let me steal from him, but no luck yet.

they are having tons of problems with the nitro's. some ride great and other porpoise and hope very bad. i am sure some tracker nut will chime in,,, but i do know this for fact. call a tracker dealer and ask if they are having any problems with them. also do not buy a nitro without test driving it.

We brought our new triton home.We live on a lake so I broke in the big motor and the kicker ,and all I have been doing is watersking and tubing with it so far and it is working out real well the pro x s is an awesome motor very responsive 53 with me and a full tank if you need hole shot this is a very good motor she is a little loud at high speeds but I like that sound. that 9.9 pro kicker is sweet with the terova autopiolet working them togeather is unreal boat controll I can't wait to go fishing,so far we love this boat it handles the waves well,we had 8 big people in it and she got up on plane that was a feat in it self,So far we are happy
