went out of Cow Creek on Sat, fished Agency Creek and caught about 15 walleyes 15- 25 inches, came off of bouncer and slow death hooks with a crawler in 20 fow, Sun launched at Little Bend and fished the same area, much slower, no wind, kept 3 and left by 11:30 to drive home
tried pulling cranks both days and didn't catch anything, lots of baitfish in the 30-40 foot range
bite was much slower than 3 weeks ago, seemed to be pretty slow from talking to others and what we saw at the cleaning stations, everyone had a few fish but not limits for everyone like it was
still had a great time and can't wait to get back, maybe the trolling will pick up

I'd call up there for a current report as I believe the bite has slowed considerably in the last week or so. Had three friends fish that area Mon & Tues this week and they only caught 3 total fish in two days.

Fished out of Bushes landing last Fri. and Sat. was doing good up around Tall Pararie Chicken. 3 guys we had 8 walleyes in the boat. Then out of no where a big wind hit the lake in a matter of minutes and monster waves.Thank God there was 6 guys from Sunset lodge at the boat ramp to help us load our boat. Thank you guys, Sat. we fished all over from T.P.C. to the south side of the Cheyenne river. 1 walleye. Seen a lot on the locator no bites.Did not go to Agency Creek. Talked to 10 or so other boats, they said bite was slowed compared to fri.

Just got back from the area yesterday. The bite was very slow. The last day we didn't get an eye. Some guys were getting nice walleyes on cranks. I guess its August !!

Fishing was great, but worked for them.
Limits both days, 20-40 FOW
Bottom bouncer- w/ crawler and minnows
Saw a 12 year old w/ a 10.25 Walleye he caught w/ his dad & uncle, they were pulling plugs. Man, he was super happy!.... Love to see that!

sd labman, Would you be willing to be a little more specific on the location you did well at? Is Agency still putting out any fish?

Fished out of west bend on sat.,was a tough bit for 2 of us only got 1 fish all day and I mean all day. Dropped down to Cow Creek on Sun tough for us there also, tried salmon fishing in the combine point area, storm was a coming so got off the water, lots of people having a real hard time getting fish, so didn't feel so bad. Stopped at cleaning station there not much for people cleaning. Went over toSpring Creek station talked to afew guys that did fair early in the morn. down on Peoria Flats pulling clear glass shad raps, boy don't ya know I don't have any of them. 2 thousand dollars of cranks and we usally don't us them in our area. Few others had some luck. Started to rain by the buckets so we left. Salmon fished by the face of the dam until 9:00 zilch, nada. Swallowed our pride on Mon. morn went down below the confluence by Farm Island had 8 fish in 2 hours went home 15 inch fish. Mike

HS,
Sure.
We worked Agency South, concentrating on areas that boats were NOT, structure too. This time of year alot of boats in one specific area seems to spook them quicker, we kept moving alot, working the more aggressive biters. Boat speed/handling, is key also.

Thanks for your help. August can be a tough month, but somebody is always finding biters somewhere. Looks like you guys did better than most. My toughest decision is always, "should I stay witih the fish I'm marking, or should find some active fish somewhere else. Usually after I've left, I hear that they turned on just after you left". Have been on Oahe 8 times this year and this has been the best year over the last several. Looking to get up once more in the next week or two, then two or three times this fall. Good luck and thanks again.

I too really enjoy Oahe and Sharpe. I wished I was 10 years younger, I would try and make a living up there. I,m going this weekend and I also plan on 4 or 5 trips this fall, fished last year right up to nov 26. Oahe was slow, but Sharpe was a blast! Thank you and sdlabman for your posts, I look foward to reading them. When I get back, I will share what I did on here.

A good late summer tactic for extremely large walleye is to pull plugs on downriggers real deep around the inlet structure on the face of the dam at night. Try it!

Just got back, fished Fri-Sun eve. Fri was a bust, wind and then got caught in a thunderstorm towards eve. Sat was ok, caught 6 walleyes, 8 hours fishing. Minneaconjou, at the pump house, and then in front of Fishgut, then went down at Joe's creek, found a good little pod of fish. If you have a lake chip, look for white post point, 25-35FOW, bottom bouncer slow death hook. Sun ran into a real nice man and showed me a spot, said he caught 35 fish in 4 hours, launched at little bend. As you are sitting in the parking lot looking south, you will see a farm house, right in front of there. there was trees sticking out of the water, 20-30FOW. I changed things up a bit, using a yellow hair jig tipped with a crawler, lindy rigged, and pulled a spinner behind a BB red and white spinner. Caught 16, 2 24inchers, and the rest were 13-18. Didn't do as good as the pros up in Akaska though.

Fished Oahe last weekend. Three of us caught 9 on Fri, 6 on Sat and caught 5 over 15" down below in the river Sun morning. All of the walleyes on Oahe were on cranks, except one on a spinner crawler rig and one on a slow death snell. Deep little rippers and 200 series rip shads caught most of the fish. Pretty windy on Sat, so travel was somewhat limited. All of the fish were caught within 1.5 miles south of the mouth of the Cheyenne and 1 mile north of the Cheyenne mouth. Best depth was 20'-22' and caught a couple in 12'-14'. Fish were shallower than expected and marked lots of fish and absolutely the amount of baitfish in the system is unbelievable.

We did good on Friday on crawlers in the Cheyenne area, 22 FOW. Bite was good all day. Sat was rough and fishing was slower but managed a limit, mostly from 12' FOW on a flat west of Brush creek. Didn't fish Sunday.
