I don't know what kind of open seasons they have at this time. There is some good trout fishing in the northern part of the state. Lake Lanier is a little nortn of Atlanta if you want to try for stumpsuckers etc. The in-laws have a small lake at the back of their property west of Atlanta. It's part of a river system that runs in that area from one man made 10 acre lake to another. This system has some nice crapie and stumpsuckers, and there are some access points at bridges and along right of ways. Can't help with details. When I'm there my son-in-law guides me.

Lots of very good trout fishing nearby. Bring a fly rod and ask the locals where to go. I fish a lot while on business and find trout fishing to be the most enjoyable as you don't need a boat. Gortex waders fit nicely in a suitcase.

Go to Carters Lake located northeast of Rome, GA about 1 1/2 hours north of Atlanta. The limit is ten walleyes (yes walleyes) per day with a 3 1/2 pound average.

I'm sure you could get in on some stumpsucker action.
