I have a 2000 1895 Yar-Craft Storm SC that is begining to show a bit of wear. One of the items I'm working on fixing is two compartment door lids. The lids are situated that they are at the edge of where the step up to the front platform is. The probelm comes from years of people sitting in the passenger seat and resting their feet on the edge of the front platform, thus wearing though the carpet on this edge. The carpet has actually seperated and is in two peices now.

I have a few options to fixing this probelm. Option one is to re-carpet the two lids. The problem with this is I haven't found matching carpet, even from the dealer, and I'm not sure If I could physicaly get the carpet to wrap around the bottom lip without it lifting from the glue. It appears the original stuff had very flexable backing where the closest matching sample I've got my hand on has a heavier backing and is therefor much stiffer and tougher to work with.

Since the re-carpeting idea didn't seem to good I thought to cut back the carpet about 2" from the edge and have the front edges RinoLined. The only potential problem was the seem between the RinoLiner and the carpet would need a silcone or mastive type joint. well I tried this and it didn't turn out as I had hoped. The liner wasn't as thick as I had thought it would be so there is a pronounced edge at the carpet but to make things worse the mastive that was used cured very hard and I think is going to be uncomortable to walk across barefoot (Its also uneven). I had a body shop do this for me so they did it as good as could be expected. In the end it was a decent concept but didn't materialize as I had hoped.

So now I'm left trying to figure out if I should go back to recarpeting or if I should just strip off all of the carpet and RinoLine the each of the entire doors?? Then I think, if I Rino Line the two doors the other three on the front deck are gonna look kinda funny still having carpet, so I should probably do all five doors. My concern about this is the RinoLiner is black and even the black carpet I have gets almost to hot to stand on barfoot, I would imagine this would be even worse. I also question a bit how it would look but don't think it would be to bad. JFYI, the rest of the front deck is white textured fiberglass.

Below is a picture of the floor plan of my boat.

I would apprieciate any ideas or comments.

Thanks
