I have a 2003 warrior boat trailer, everything use to work fine. Now when I back up the trailers brackes come on, any ideas? Is there a way to over ride this system? Thanks

One of the wires in your electrical trailer harness is connected to your backup lights. When you back up, the wire is supposed to alert a switch to override the surge? brake activator. This is not working for some reason. You can try cleaning the connectors, check for fuses, or anything else that may be preventing it to work as advertised.

In the interim, a mechanical solution can be achieved by inserting something into the slot where the surge brake slides. (Remove before driving, or the trailer brake will not work.) Sorry to be a bit vague, I'm not sure if all trailers have the same setup, perhaps another poster can fill in. What kind of trailer is it?
