I bought a used 96 Smokercraft Ultima 175 with a 115 Merc 2+4 on it. I got it in 2002. I have been pretty happy with it. They do ride rough in rough water. The motor is a good one. I can troll for trout and pike with no trouble. I fish walleyes with bottom bouncers and worm harnesses. For this I use a 50lb Minn Kota Power Drive. It isn't as pretty as a new Ranger but it sure didn't cost anywhere as much either.

If it was used hard, you will find a few things that have shook lose or broken. The windshield mounts on the dash may be broken. The rear live well on mine leaks a little. Mine has a livewell up front as well. I converted it to use for storage. I am still trying to find some way of making the lid weather tight. I also had some loose electrical problems under the dash. It took a bit to find thembut they were easy to fix.

Check it over and good luck

I had the 2+4 115 Merc. Had it for 7 years, and it ran great. There is a rough spot when it switches cylinders, but hardly noticeable under normal acceleration. I did put a trolling plate on mine to pull bottom bouncers, and I could get down to .8 mph. Was easy on fuel too. Hope this helps.
