I think this has been covered but I can't really find resolution. I have a Lowrance 332c. I have 3 Navionics Hot Maps Premium 2008 chips (one for northern Wisconsin, one for Canada...) and none will work when I plug in the chip - the maps simply do not show up, the screen just shows the default Lowrance map.

I also have a Lake Master chip and when I plug it in - BAM! - there are the lakes with contours. I'm guessing it's user error, but stupid me reads the Navionics package and it says "easiest to use, just plug and play" Yeah right! I spent two hours pushing buttons on my Lowrance hoping to finally see some contours on the Cisco Chain, and all I found was frustration :-).

Any ideas why the Lake Master chip will work perfectly but none of my Navionics chips will work? I did browse the MMC files and there are tons of files so the chips are not blank. I checked the "datum" and it's defaulted to something like "WGS-84?" I've read the Lowrance book front to back and can't find a solution. I'll be back at the cottage in two weeks and hopefully I can get the thing working. Any help would really be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

FJH

When you're seeing all those files on the Nav card ....... you need to select the right Nav file for the area you want to look at. It's tough because the file names are cryptic, it's really hit and miss and you have to just keep trying files until you pull up the right file with the info for the lake you're looking for.

If you move to another area, you'll probably have to select the file for that area.

Best way to do this is to use the cursor to move over the lake you want, then zoom in to 1/4 mile in an area where you'll have contours (shoreline, point, etc.) - then just start working your way through the files on the Nav card until the contours show up.

Navionics map choice options will not be found in "browse MMC" menu choice. Try this, hit "menu" then scroll down to "Map Data" selection and highlite, hit enter and once in this page of options scroll over to the area showing mapping options. Should show either "Lowrance options" or "Navionics options". Highlite this section and hit enter and it should bring up all the map boundry options on your map card that is installed. Scroll down to the map area you want displayed and highlite it then hit enter and exit your way back out to your mapping screen. Your contours should be present if you have chosen the proper map area that your are in..I think this will get you in the game..

Ditto on what has been said above. Menu, then map data. This function is necessary on the pre 2009 Lowrance because they run various manufacturers cards. The new HDS does not require the menu - map data selection and neither do any of the other plooter manufacturers. It is just a feature built into the Lowrance units prior to the intorduction of the HDS series this spring.

Don't feed bad...that is the nubmer one question I get when working shows or doing training for Navionics. Lowrance changed their menu for 2009 so you do not have to do this.
