Hello Lake Vermilion fisherpeople,
My friend and I will be fishing Lake Vermilion next weekend with some young children (age 5-9), and we are looking to put the kids on some fish so we can spark some interest in fishing. My friend's brother has a cabin on Daisy Bay, but he does not fish much, and most of that is from shore. The shoreline in front of his cabin can be good in spring, but not nearly as productive during August. We have a Crestliner Fishhawk to work with, so we can travel a little ways, but would prefer to stay near the cabin if possible.

We would like to target walleyes. With our best choice of presentations for kids would be slip bobbers and a leech, crawler or minnow. We are looking for a few spots near Daisy Bay where we can anchor up, and toss out a few bobbers and hopefully catch a few fish. Sunfish or perch is another option for action if walleyes are not cooperating

We are mostly catch, smile, photo and release, so no worries about taking limits home. We may keep a few for a small fish fry, but with all the food plans we already have, it will be a small number.

Any good reefs, shoreline point, or general areas would be great. Depth, preferred bait?

We figure we will have a couple hours at most to work with, and the kids will need to see the bobbers go down or they loose interest fast.

Daisy Bay is located on the south east side of the eastern basin.

Thanks for any help. Feel free to email me directly if you prefer.
