fishing is a little slower than past years because of a mayfly hatch that has lasted 6 weeks and the unstable weather. the reefs and shore lines 20 to 35 fow all baits are working i did better with crawlers. others did good with leeches and minnows. keep looking for hungry fish. the typical day would be fish that would hold the bait for 10 seconds then you would pull it out of their mouth. i moved around until i found fish that would bite. very frustrating getting on top of alot of fish and no takers. I am leaving tomorrow for 2 more days. call me on channel 10, (USG boat) maybe we can help each other.

I was out a couple days ago, we caught walleye on every hump we tried. The magic depth for us 29ft especially for the big ones, most were caught drifting minnows. Although we did catch them on leeches/crawlers, minnows were easier to care for.
Also tried the weedbeds with some biters taking yellow bucktails, they were also hitting crankbaits that only went down 4-5ft but above the weeds.
Walleye do react to wind also on Rainy, especially when the wind has been blowing for 2-3 days from the same direction. Pithching jigs tipped with what ever combo you like will usually produce some nice catches. The shorline I look for will have sand/boulders visably seen from the boat, I will also sometimes anchor the boat.

I am giving up on Vermilion the weekend resort for all of Twin Cities. Our group wants to try Rainy. Any recommendations for wath part of the lake is best for Pike and Walleye? Are there any Muskie in Rainy? Staying on Last Island in private cabin. Any good guide you can recommend?

I take it your fishing the american side, there's only one guide that I hear about all the time is Woodybut I do have a friends whos dad guides onthe american side most of the summer. If you can't get Woody, let me know and maybe I can hook you up with my friends dad. Or you can stop at the Outdoorsmen Headquarters.
