Hopefully I will be rigging a new boat very soon and my question is not trying to stir any pots or make anyone mad! I have allways had Lowrance units on all my boats and would love to just go get the new hd10 and hd7 to put on it BUT, I have 5 different buddies that have the new hd10 units and all 5 have had to go back to the factory! I haven't heard many bad thing about the new humminbirds but I do not know of many who owns them. I do know that if I pay $2500.00 to $3000.00 for a unit it better work! So I guess what I am asking is if you was rigging a new boat right now what would you go with? I am leaning toward trying to find a new lcx113c for the console and a 7" for the front. Thanks Jim

Try the Humminbird you won't be dissapointed. I made the switch about 3 years and haven't had a single issue.

The 1157 Humminbird I saw Al Linder useing on his Angling Edge show looks pretty sweet.

I would definently go Humminbird.

A friend of mine just bought the 788 and called Humminbirds customer service with a question about useing his unit with the older universal sonar.
His wait on the phone was 2 minutes.

The new Birds are nice.

Jim,

If you want to see the Birds in action, just ask me at the next MWC. Both I an my partner have them in our boats. Either one of us would be glad to show them to you.

I will not debate the Chevy vs Ford stuff. I know my Birds have been good to me. The SI is great, the GPS has some cool features, and the 2d sonar shows me all the detail needed to catch em.

They have been very reliable and Hbird has listened to the users to add features we have asked for.

See me at Waubay and you can decide for yourself.

Look forward to it Johnnie, the last time I was in your boat you had just got the bird and didn't have it all figured out yet so I'm sure you have it mastered by now. Is it ok if I bring a pad and pencil with me to write down waypoints? LOL Later Jim
